Executive Director

Jacquie was hired as the Executive Director of the EAC in 2016. She has experience in both print journalism and radio broadcasting.

Jacquie was reporter for The Clanton Advertiser in Clanton, Alabama from 1996-97; a reporter and writer for The Forest-Blade in Swainsboro from 1997 to 2008; and a news anchor and correspondent for Radio Jones (WXRS and WJAT) in Swainsboro from 2008 t0 2013. Before she accepted the position at the EAC, she ran a personal catering service called Jacquie's Kitchen where she cooked and delivered gourmet meals. She also volunteered as an organizer for the Downtown Swainsboro Farmers Market and later, the Emanuel County Farmers & Artisans Market, for eight years.

Jacquie is a graduate of the University of Montevallo, Alabama, with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. When not working at The Kalmanson Gallery of the EAC, she writes short stories on her blog on WordPress at jacquiewee.wordpress.com and recently self-published a book of poetry, Kudzu Flowers: Selected Poems 1984-2024. 

Born and raised in Swainsboro, Georgia, I am a retired educator with 35 years of devoted service to the Emanuel County Board of Education. Teaching and inspiring young people has always been my true passion.

I am an active member of several organizations that reflect my commitment to education, community, and service. These include, but are not limited to, the Emanuel Association of Retired Educators, Emanuel County DFCS (where I serve as Chair), Community Action for Youth, Inc., the Emanuel County Chapter of the NAACP, and the Emanuel Arts Council. I am also a proud member and charter member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Nu Upsilon Omega Chapter, where I hold the esteemed title of Golden Soror, celebrating 50 years of dedicated service. Additionally, I serve on the Sudie Fulford Advisory Board at East Georgia State College.

For 60 years, I have been a faithful member of St. Paul AME Church, in Summertown, GA, where I serve as President of the Sarah G. Drisdom, WMS. I am the proud mother of Roosevelt and Sara Young and the loving grandmother, of Zaylin Lee. My hobbies include: reading, writing, listening, to music, and surfing the Internet.

My life's philosophy is guided by the wisdom of Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight."
